AWEP LAUNCH

May 8th 2013 marked the official launch of the Kenya Chapter of the African Women's Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP).  AWEP is an initiative of the United States Department of State, which seeks to identify and build networks of women entrepreneurs across sub-Saharan Africa poised to transform their societies by owning, running, and operating small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs).

AWEP is an outreach, education, and engagement initiative that promotes business growth, increases trade both regionally and to U.S. markets through the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), and creates a better and more inclusive business environment as well other world markets through collaborations.

AWEP- Kenya Chapter aims to become a valuable resource for women entrepreneurs in this country that have a viable business or business concept, but often lack critical skills and knowledge, as well as contacts across the public and private sectors.  By providing a forum for the exchange of information, skills, and knowledge, AWEP -Kenya Chapter strives to empower women in business.

To accomplish these goals, AWEP- Kenya Chapter is seeking partners to provide financial and other resources.  Our aim is to secure partnerships that will help us stimulate business growth, create a more conducive business environment (particular for women entrepreneurs), and increase the trade capacity of women-owned SMEs.

AWEP-Kenya Chapter would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss with you or your designee(s) how our organizations might partner together to achieve our mutual goals related to women's empowerment.  I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
